Black doors are making the rounds these days and sure enough, I’m into them…

I decided to start with one door and see how I like it. I didn’t want to choose a prominent door like the back of the front door just in case the look was not for me. I’ve since changed my mind, watch out front door!
I chose to paint the garage side of the door leading from my garage to my mudroom. It is a metal door used everyday but in need of a face lift anyway. In my rush to get things started I have no before photo, sorry! I started off with
spray painting my hardware with Rust-Oleum Universal Metallic spray paint in oil rubbed bronze. After looking through my favorite inspirations for a black door I realized I preferred the ones where the hardware was not standing out against the black. I then painted the door with Behr Premium Plus Ultra Paint and Primer in one.

Since the paint I used was paint and primer in one I was able to skip the step of priming the door. I ended up painting three coats of the black to get a solid coat of color. No taping involved whatsoever since the hardware is black as well. That was it. A very simple job with quite the impact. I’m thinking the other side of the door is next…
